Well, that was looking in the mirror. I used to believe so deeply in the power of authors to shape the world--and there is ample evidence that it was once so--but lately I've wondered if good and true words could create a path through the tangle of lies confronting us each day. Doubt is the precursor to writer's block, I think, and I tend to see everything these days through the lens of politics. Thank you for forging on! As we must. All of us, writers/citizens alike. Keep going.

Thank you for that thoughtful comment, Jean. At the moment, I think language shapes the world, but not necessarily the language that I want, and not necessarily written language. I find it disheartening that what seems to be logical and thoughtful language and responses are dismissed and replaced with language that is profoundly irrational and untrue. I cannot be loud, but I can be supportive and persistent. I'm hanging onto that. So looking forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks.

And you did write something after all. Writing about not writing is a good way to get back into it…🙂

I love the blank page idea. It would have been such a funny thing to see! And i love seeing Sherri here too. So many good New Hampshire memories laughing and enjoying each other. I'll always cherish them.
